About

At Unity, we seek to provide programming that allows men to find balance and meaning in their lives, as partners, parents, fathers, and religious and spiritual human being. Being strong, healthy men helps make all of our relationships better and deeper.

We offer men opportunities for fun and fellowship, such as Tours of Summit Brewery, ball games, poker nights, and Bowling.

We also offer opportunities for spiritual growth and deepening. We have two men’s covenant groups, as well as the ongoing “Are You A Real Man?!” class, offered the 3rd Wednesday of the month, during our Wellspring Wednesday Programming.

For more information on Men’s Programming, please contact Justin Schroeder at Justin@unityunitarian.org

Poker Notes 1/17/08 - Bob Dole and Dollar Boy

19th January 2008
Posted by Zack Steven

We had some good games on Thursday night at Michael Garry's house. The evening saw the return of Dale "Dollar Boy" Howey, and a record pot of over $20 on a nickel ante game. There were a few other sizable pots, and a wide variety of games, from Bob Dole (second highest hand wins!) to Chicago and Between the Sheets. If you bump into Stu Alger, ask to see his special burn card tactic for Hold 'em. Not to be missed!

$20 will go into the offering plate this weekend from the proceeds. Hope you can join us next time.

Bill Doherty at Men's Retreat

Bill Doherty has agreed to lead two workshops at the Unity Men's Retreat, February 22 - 23! Bill teaches in the Department of Family Social Science the University of Minnesota, and has presented at the UUA General Assembly on "Home Grown Religion". He also started the "UU Christmas Reclamation Project" at Unity Church.

Bill will lead two workshops: "Mens Relationships with Women", exploring how we might relate better with partners or wives and other women in our lives, and "Kids and Values", which expands on his work on the "Family Chalice" project to explore how we, as men, might pass on good values to our children and the children around us. We are excited to have man of such wit and wisdom offer his gifts at the Unity Men's Retreat.

Poker notes

Well, we ended up holding poker night in the Gannett Room at Unity last night since Michael wasn't feeling well. (Fortunately Betsy Guthman left us off the building tour she gave for the Finding Yourself at Unity class!)

Collin Rust was the big winner, and $15 will go into the plate this Sunday. The top hand was four 3's (natural) from John Faley, beating out two full houses for a decent pot.
